Cape man accused of growing four marijuana plants
A Cape Coral man is accused of growing marijuana after police removed four cannabis plants from the backyard of his home earlier this week.
Bradley L. Tascon, 29, of 3206 S.W. First Place, was arrested Friday and charged with with one felony count of producing marijuana. He remained in the Lee County Jail on $1,500 bond Friday night, according to jail booking records.
On Tuesday, an officer responded to the home on Southwest First Place after a person called the police department and stated that they suspected marijuana was being grown in the backyard. The officer drove around the block and approached the home’s unfenced backyard through a vacant field.
According to a police report, the officer saw “in plain sight” some sunflower plants and four marijuana plants, ranging in height from about 1 foot to 3 feet. Three people came out of the home as the officer approached the yard. The officer asked the three individuals about the marijuana plants.
Tascon said the plants were weeds and attempted to pull them from the ground, the report states. The officer told Tascon not to touch the plants. Brian Tascon, his brother, told the officer that Tascon’s probation officer had just left and that neither of them wanted any trouble.
The report states that Bradley Tascon began to sway and started to slur his words. His brother told the officer that Tascon had snorted what he believed was Roxycotins after the probation officer left. EMS responded to the scene and Tascon reportedly told the officer that the marijuana plants belonged to him.
Tascon was transported to the Cape Coral Hospital Emergency Room. The cannabis plants with their roots in tact were submitted into police evidence.
During a telephone interview Wednesday, Brian Tascon said he would rather not comment on Tuesday’s incident. He denied any association to the plants.
Bradley Tascon has a court date set for June 1.
