TableTalk fund-raiser scheduled for today
An intimate, groundbreaking event designed to connect people with local celebrities is set to benefit Jen’s Kids Fund, created by a resident of Cape Coral.
TableTalk is a meet-and-greet event being hosted today at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where those who purchase tickets get to meet their favorite local television personality, artist, musician or athlete.
Created by Cape Coral resident Jennifer Likness, 27, who is living with cystic fibrosis — a chronic lung disease that is most common among children and young adults — proceeds from TableTalk are going into Jen’s Kids Fund to assist in renovations of the general pediatric wing at The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
TableTalk is designed unlike many of the other speaking engagements held in this area.
“No formal speeches, no black ties or gowns, just an intimate opportunity to have lunch with one of 12 local celebrities,” said Tracey Connelly, director of development for the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation.
The event is being chaired by Barbara DuFrane, owner of DuFrane Jewelers in Bonita Springs and a local organizer.
“We wanted to do something a bit different,” she said in a prepared statement. “Many are tired of the traditional black tie affairs and galas, and we wanted to provide people with a simple lunch with some fascinating and interesting people right here in our community.”
The general pediatric wing has 14 rooms that will benefit directly from today’s event, said Connelly.
Tickets are $75 per person or $1,000 per table and some are available this morning.
