‘Community’ celebration this weekend
The Chabad Jewish Center of Cape Coral is hosting its fourth annual “Community, Friendship and Celebration” affair this weekend to benefit a summer camp for children.
Each summer the center sends approximately 25 children to the Camp Gan Israel where they participate in a number of educational activities, but many of the children have a hard time coming up with the funding to attend, explained Rabbi Yossi Labkowski.
“It gives kids something to do in the summer when school is out and they have a good time,” he said. “It is a great camp.”
This year’s affair is Sunday, March 14, starting at 5 p.m. at the Resort at Marina Village. The cocktail party, with live entertainment, will include a silent and live auction where guests can bid on art, electronics, spa packages, fine jewelry and Judaica.
A grand raffle will also be drawn for a chance to win a computer package or getaway to anywhere in the United States. Tickets are $25 for the raffle and can be purchased before and during the event.
The Resort at Marina Village and BJ’s Wholesale Club are sponsoring the fourth annual affair — the resort donating its facility for the event and BJ’s providing items for the auction.
The entire community is invited to attend at 5951 Silver King Blvd. in Cape Coral. Proceeds from the event will go into the children’s camp scholarship fund of the non-profit Chabad Jewish Center.
