Cape Harbour’s “Water and Wheels” returns this weekend for the fourth time, bringing three days of fun, sun, music, and wheels to one of the city’s favorite destinations.
The event combines boats and cars during family friendly, day-long celebrations.
Laura Strauss from Realmark Realty said the event is truly aimed at showcasing what the Cape has to offer.
“We have fabulous things to see in Cape Coral, this is to successfully showcase the city and what can happen here,” Strauss said. “It really is about keeping people in the Cape … It seems unfortunate there isn’t more things like this to keep people here.”
Festivities kick off on Friday with live music from R&B band Nightshift.
Saturday’s car show, from 10 am – 6 pm, will feature a mix of classic and premier autos, what Strauss described as a “dream showcase” for car lovers. Vintage rides will sit alongside high-end cars like Bentleys and Ferraris. Saturday also features music from the Bunche Band from 6 – 10 p.m.
The Cape Coral Rowing Club will be on hand Sunday to teach people the finer points of rowing, and the “Dragon Boats” from Charlotte Harbor will thrill people with their unique designs.
“Its quite a remarkable thing to see,” Strauss said of the Dragon Boats. “It’s a giant boat that looks like a dragon.”
Of course, boats of all kinds will be on hand on three days, as Marina at Cape Harbour will display the best the area has to offer in an on-water and land display of rare and custom boats.
Cruising yachts, performance boats, sailboats and sport fishing boats will all be on hand, and will be open to the public to tour all three days.
All of Cape Harbour’s shops, galleries and restaurants will be open, and the restaurants will offer food and drink specials all weekend.
Banana Boat Bay Tour Company will offer special tours at a great price.
Cape Harbour will have one of its brand new “Funky Fish Houses” open for tours.
With three days of fun and special activities planned for each day, Strauss said families will need at least two days to see and experience everything.
“Its just a big open house,” Strauss said. “People come and go all day.”
