The Cape Coral Police Department is conducting an administrative review after a police car collided into four motorcycles, causing more than $4,000 in damage.
A Cape police officer responded to a disturbance call at 6:01 p.m. Sunday at the Dek Bar at 4704 S.E. 15th Ave. Upon arriving, the officer exited his vehicle to assist another Cape officer who was attempting to restrain an individual, according to police spokeswoman Connie Barron.
The officer closed and locked the door of his police car, but he failed to put the car in park, she reported. The car traveled into two motorcycles parked in front of the bar. The motorcycles fell onto their sides, knocking over two more parked motorcycles.
According to a police report, each motorcycle sustained about $1,000 in damage while the incident caused about $500 in damage to the police car.
A traffic investigation determined the officer was at fault in the incident, Barron said. The Cape police department plans to conduct an administrative review in the coming days.
The name of the officer would not released as the review is pending, she said.
Owners of the motorcycles were unavailable for comment Tuesday.
