Intersections closing temporarily overnight Tuesday, Dec. 8 for crossroad work
Intersections in downtown Fort Myers will close temporarily overnight from approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, for crosswalk detail work. The work is part of the city of Fort Myers Downtown Utility & Streetscape Improvements Project.
Intersections closed for crosswalk detail work are:
– Main and Heitman intersection
– Main and Monroe intersection
– Second and Monroe intersection
During this time, there will be no access to U.S. 41, McGregor Boulevard or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard via Main, Monroe or Heitman streets.
To access U.S. 41 during the Main Street, Heitman Street and Monroe Street closures, motorists may travel west on First Street/West First Street, left on Altamont Avenue through the traffic light on McGregor Boulevard to Victoria Street to U.S. 41 (Cleveland Avenue). A second alternate route to access U.S. 41 is south on Broadway, west on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, south on Monroe Street, west on Victoria Street to north/south U.S. 41.
This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions, etc.
