Uncommon Friends Foundation subject of talk at Shell Point

By Staff

The public is invited to attend a presentation about the Uncommon Friends Foundation sponsored by The Academy at Shell Point Retirement Community. The seminar will be held Monday, Nov. 30, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Grand Cypress Room, which is located in The Woodlands Commons at Shell Point.
The scheduled presenter is Arlene Roth, Executive Director Uncommon Friends Foundation.
“The Uncommon Friends Foundation has been operating since 1993 and has had a positive impact on our youth and business leaders in the Southwest Florida community,” said Teri Kollath, manager of The Academy and Volunteer Services in a prepared statement. “This presentation will give attendees the chance to learn about the origins of the organization and how they can volunteer or participate with the Foundation.”
Roth will share a brief history about the time the uncommon friends; Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Alexis Carrel and Charles Lindbergh; spent time together in Fort Myers; and the founding of the foundation and its effect on our community now.
The Uncommon Friends Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to lifelong character building among today’s youth and business leaders. Shell Point Retirement Community was honored to receive the Fourth Annual Uncommon Friends Foundation Business Ethics Award in 2009.
This event is free and open to the public; however, RSVPs are required since space is limited. For more information, call Sue Earnhardt at (239) 454-2054.
