Lee County’s “most wanted” fugitive was busted Wednesday by Cape Coral police while he was allegedly stealing video games from a local Wal-Mart.
Daniel Larson, 32, was trying to steal six Nintendo DS games from the store at 1619 Del Prado Blvd. when a loss prevention officer confronted him and placed him in handcuffs, according to a police report.
Larson is on the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers “Most Wanted” list because of a state parole violation regarding a robbery, said city spokesperson Connie Barron.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office had issued a warrant for Larson’s arrest for using a false identification and forgery.
Larson was charged Wednesday with larceny in the video game theft, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m. According to reports, the games Larson took were valued at $119.76.
Officer Angela Fleming responded to the Wal-Mart store and arrested Larson. She also recovered a license with the name Brian Seiler, Larson’s reported alias, from his wallet.
Larson admitted to using the fake identification to get out of jail over the Labor Day holiday, reports state.
“I don’t have money so I stole it. I sell the games for money to support my drug habit,” he reportedly told police.
Larson also reportedly said he shoved the Wal-Mart loss prevention officer in an attempt to escape because he knew he would go to jail for a long time if caught.
Larson was taken to the Lee County Jail in apparent good health, where he remained Thursday evening without bond, according to booking records.
