By Staff

The Cape Coral Police Department has placed two officers on administrative duty pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted by federal authorities, officials said today.
No charges have been filed against the officers.
Sgt. James O’Brien and Det. Steve Petrovich are now on administrative duty while the federal investigation is being conducted, according to police spokesperson Connie Barron.
O’Brien has been a Cape Coral police officer for 10 years, while Petrovich has been an officer with the department for 11 years. O’Brien’s base salary is $68,244 and Petrovich earns $64,084.
This joint federal investigation is ongoing, and the department is not at liberty to provide any further details, Barron said. In addition, Florida statute does not allow the agency to comment or discuss ongoing matters of this nature, she said in a prepared statement.
