Sullivan, Burch advance in mayor’s race; McGrail and Cataldi advance in District 6
Incumbent James Burch and challenger John Sullivan will advance to the general election in the mayor’s race while Kevin McGrail and John F. Cataldi Jr. will advance in District 6.
Sullivan was the top vote-getter in the five-candidate field for mayor, garnering 3,846 votes, or 47.87 percent. Burch received 2,276 votes, or 28.33 percent.
As the top two vote-getters, they will advance to the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
Also running was Roger G. Butler, Stephen J. Lovejoy and Robert Pizzolongo. Butler, who served two terms as mayor in the ’90s, received 1,186 votes, or 14.76 percent; Lovejoy received 499 votes, or 6.21 percent and Pizzolongo received 227 votes or 2.83 percent.
McGrail was the top vote getter in the three-way race for District 6, earning 3,573 votes, or 46.04 percent. Cataldi received 2,882 votes, or 37.14 percent. As the top-two vote getters, they will advance to the Nov. 3 general election.
Also running in District 6 was Frank Antos Jr. He received 1,305 votes, or 16.82 percent of the tally.
