Fort Myers man charged with possession, transmission of child porn
A Fort Myers man was charged with possession and transmission of child pornography Friday after investigators say multiple images were found on his computer.
Earl S. LaFountain, 86, faces 13 counts of possession of child pornography, and two counts of transmission of child pornography following an investigation by members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the FBI’s Innocent Images Task Force, officials said.
America Online discovered an email which contained an embedded image depicting child pornography in June 2008. That information was sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and a report was sent to investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Information in the report showed that LaFountain, of 30 Verlo Court, was responsible for the transmission of the image through his AOL accounts, officials said in a prepared statement released Saturday.
Additional information provided by NCMEC, and the subsequent investigation by Lee County Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to the case, revealed a total of 13 images depicting child pornography on LaFountain’s personal computer.
LaFountain was arrested Friday afternoon and taken to the Lee County Jail.
