Pine Island is not known for beaches, highrise resorts or amusement parks but visitors come from far and wide to this sleepy little island off the Florida coast for one reason: Fishing.
The waters surrounding Pine Island team with life, drawing anglers to its waters for exciting fishing action.
To the south end of the island visitors will find the waters of San Carlos Bay. To the west is the now famous Pine Island Sound, named one of the top fishing destinations by Field and Stream magazine.
To the north is the pristine area of Charlotte Harbor and to the east is Matlacha Pass.
All of these areas boast great angling opportunities for snook, grouper, redfish, shark, pompano and gigantic tarpon.
While many anglers choose to bring their boats to Pine Island, others prefer to hire a fishing guide. There are many highly qualified charter captains, several of whom are native to the area. Their expertise is sure to aid anglers in filling their limits regardless of the species they wish to pursue.
