Fort Myers Beach has seven miles of sandy-white beach front considered one of the safest beaches in the world due to its beach-wide sand bar a few feet from shore, according to Beach officials.

All of the beaches of Estero Island are “natural beaches”, meaning that they are not raked or “groomed.”

According to the town’s Web site, there are three park beaches on the Beach plus 25 public beach accesses – marked and easily accessed- on the Gulf side of Estero Boulevard:

* Bowditch Point Regional Park on the northern tip of the island

– 17 acres with approximately seven acres as the developed park for passive recreational use; the remaining 10 acres for a restoration/preserve area.

– Walking trails offers an excellent opportunity for bird watching.

– Picnic tables and grills as well as a concession area offering a variety of foods, gifts and souvenirs. Restroom and changing facilities.

* Lovers Key Carl E. Johnson State Park on the south side between Big Carlos Pass and New Pass

– Lovers Key is one of four barrier islands that make up this state park. A haven for wildlife, the islands and their waters are home to West Indian manatees, bottlenose dolphins, roseate spoonbills, marsh rabbits, and bald eagles.

– According to the Lee County Web site, the two-mile-long beach is accessible by boardwalk or tram and is popular for shelling, swimming, picnicking, and sunbathing. Black Island has more than five miles of multiuse trails for hiking and bicycling.

– Boat ramp, concession offering boat and fishing tours, as well as bicycle, canoe, and kayak rentals. For tour reservations, call (239)765-7788. Located on County Road 865 between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach in Lee County.

$8 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.

$4 Single Occupant Vehicle.

$2 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
