Passenger traffic down in October at Southwest Florida International Airport
During October, more than 492,000 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 8.4 percent compared to October 2007. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down nearly 6 percent over the same period last year.
The traffic leader in October was AirTran with 67,992 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (65,865), Southwest (58,098), US Airways (53,351) and JetBlue (47,350).
Southwest Florida International Airport had 6,219 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), an increase of 0.6 percent over October 2007. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 4,959 movements, a 26 percent decrease from October 2007. In addition, nearly 3.2 million pounds of air freight moved through both airports in October 2008.
