Cabbage Key
Covering 100 acres, Cabbage Key is a lush tropical paradise complete with a historic restaurant, inn and cottages boasting a panoramic view of the Pine Island Sound. With no paved roads or automobiles, visitors will find the most popular means of transportation on Cabbage Key to be bicycles and golf carts.

The island is accessible only by boat, helicopter or seaplane, helping to maintain the Old Florida lifestyle for which it has become noted. Visitors won't find a grocery store or shops here, so anything you may need outside of restaurant dining will have to be brought along.

Unlike some of the neighboring islands, Cabbage Key does not offer camping facilities. If you wish to spend a few quiet days lying on a beach with a good book, you can make a reservation at the island's only inn — The Cabbage Key Inn, built in 1929 for mystery writer Mary Roberts Rinehart.

One of the island's biggest draws is a place known for its "Dollar Bill Bar" and restaurant. Visitors from around the world have left their mark in this quaint establishment by signing dollar bills that cover the walls, ceiling, fixtures and nearly every exposed surface. It has been frequented by celebrities such as JFK Jr. and Katherine Hepburn. Legend has it that Jimmy Buffett was so inspired by the bar that he composed "Cheeseburger in Paradise" as an homage to it.

Shuttle boats at both Captiva and Pine Island have regularly scheduled trips.
