Things to do in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda

Activities in Charlotte County
Residents and visitors alike can be found at any of the 12 miles of beautiful beaches, or fishing 129 square miles of clear, sparkling water. Kayaking, canoeing and sailing are common passtimes, and taking in a symphony performance or dining at an exclusive restaurant tops off any evening.

In downtown Punta Gorda you'll find exclusive restaurants, coffee houses and gift shops lining the streets. Fisherman's Village has always been a popular spot for both visitors and residents, with several waterfront restaurants, many apparel and specialty shops, and a spectacular view of Charlotte Harbor.

Charlotte County also has some of the best beaches anywhere in Southwest Florida: Port Charlotte Beach, along the Peace River, features a beach club, boat ramp, a long fishing pier, barbeque grills, a pool, tennis courts and snack bar. Boca Grande Beach, on Gasparilla Island, is often compared to Caribbean beaches and attracts people from around the world. The majestic Boca Grand Lighthouse and Lighthouse Museum are located there. Scenic Englewood Beach, with wild sea oats growing along the dunes, offers a secluded white-sand beach that exposes trees, vegetation and wildlife. Stump Pass Beach borders both the Gulf and Lemon Bay. Thus, beachgoers can experience expansiveness on the Gulf side as well as see wildlife among the mangroves that border the Bay side.

Charlotte County is also well known for boating and world-class fishing. Fishing charters offering both deep-sea and bay fishing abound, and boats can be rented throughout Charlotte Harbor for pleasure cruising. Myriad other activities abound as well, including trolley tours, photography ops, sea life excursions, shelling, fossil hunting, birding, bunk house lodging, dolphin sight and sound tours, primitive island camping. You will never be bored when visiting Charlotte County!
