Accessible only by boat, visitors can see a wide variety of shorebirds including terns, plovers and sandpipers. Little Gasparilla Island: a small piece of paradise attached to Don Pedro, it can only be reached by boat and is home to world-class fishing and just about any other water sport possible. Palm Island: with its 7 miles of white sandy beach and ctystal clear water awaiting, visitors delight in swimming, boating and fishing. A car ferry to the island adds to the remote feel of this island getaway. Englewood Barrier Islands Within the barrier island communities of Charlotte County are Englewood Beach and Manasota Key. Both are found by crossing the Tom Adams Bridge with scenic Stump Pass to the left and beautiful Lemon Bay to the right. Beach gift shops, restaurants, low-rise condominiums and hotels are found here, along with a winding road that leads to Manasota Key and the upscale homes that line it — the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Intercoastal Waterway on the other. Two of the most beautiful spots in Charlotte County are on Englewood Beach: Chadwick Park at Englewood Beach and Stump Pass Beach State Recreation Area. Sparkling water, wide beaches and an array of seashells and sea life can be found at these locations.
